Father, your Word says in James 5:16 that we are to "pray one for another." Therefore, we come before you believing that You hear our prayers, that You are in control, and that we can trust you with the answers. We now bring before you, the following: NEW PRAYER REQUESTS August 2010 UPDATED August 26, 2010 **Pray for Sarah and Louie S., who are expecting their first child. Pray for a good pregnancy as this new life develops, and for a safe delivery in the spring. **UPDATE: Pray for the family of Jackie S., Jo G.'s daughter, who went home to be with the Lord on August 25. Jo reports her home-going was peaceful, and her husband Carl and daughter Valerie Jo are holding up. Jo wants to thank everyone for their prayers during Jackie's long illness. **UPDATE: Pray for the parents, family, and friends of 9-year old Sam B., who went home to be with the Lord on August 20, after a courageous battle against cancer. Pray that the Lord will comfort Sam's mom and dad, and his sisters, as they grieve his loss and adjust to life without him. **UPDATE: Pray for Richard C., who underwent brain cancer surgery Aug. 13, and is now recuperating at home. Pray for his vision to clear, for strength to return, and for complete healing. [See related Praise Report] UPDATED August 12, 2010 **[See Update for Aug. 26] URGENT: Pray for Richard C., who is undergoing brain cancer surgery early Friday, August 13, to remove several tumors. To do this, a portion of the brain must also be removed. Following brain surgery last year, he had been undergoing chemotherapy, but recent tests showed that new tumors had developed. Please pray that the Lord will guide the surgeons' hands, for a successful outcome, and a good recovery. Also, pray for his wife Susan and daughter as they go through this very difficult time. Also, pray for Susan's mother, who fell and broke her arm a few days ago. **[See Update for Aug. 26] Pray for 9-year-old Sam B., who has cancer. He had surgery on one leg to remove cancer, had the other leg amputated, has had several cancer nodules removed from both lungs, and had a spot on his spine which was inoperable. In July, it was discovered that cancer had returned to both lungs, and his left leg was having the same pain as the right had before amputation. He was stage 4 when they discovered the cancer. Now, it has spread throughout his body and there is no cure. His parents, Cindy and Mike, have taken him home and called in hospice. Also, Cindy's father is dying of cancer, so this family is going through an extremely difficult time. ** Pray for the following GMBA requests and upcoming events: REQUESTS: for Steve and Nellene C. and Johnnie and Lahoma L. as they travel hundreds of miles across the Green Mountain Baptist Association during June, July and August assisting dozens of mission teams that will assist GMBA churches in outreach ministries; for Raymond D. as he works with a group of refugees from Nepal to start a church in Burlington; for many GMBA churches that are hosting Vacation Bible Schools throughout the summer, that many children will come to know Christ; for Peter and Pauline G. as they work in the Willow Creak Housing Complex to start a church in the fall of 2010; for Faith Community Church as it seeks two interns for their church planting efforts; for First Branch Baptist Fellowship as they each seek a new pastor; EVENTS: GMBA Staff and Administrative Council Meeting, Aug. 26, at Faith Community Church; Men’s Conference at Baptist Fellowship, Randolph, Aug. 28; Fall Seminary Courses at Christ Memorial Church, Aug. 13-Sept. 11; Sept. 24-Oct. 16; and Oct. 29-Nov. 20; Fall Women's Conference at the Washington Baptist Church, Sept. 17; Seminary Extension Class "Old Testament Survey" at the Baptist Fellowship Randolph, Saturdays, Sept. 18-Nov. 20; free Audio Conference "Developing Leaders in Small Churches," Sept. 21; "The Bigger Breakfast," a simultaneous men's breakfast across the US to help churches encourage men to be spiritual leaders, Sept. 25. ** Pray for the ministry of Compassion International, for all the children and families they help, and for their staff and sponsors.
