Father, your Word says in James 5:16 that we are to "pray one for another." Therefore, we come before you believing that You hear our prayers, that You are in control, and that we can trust you with the answers. We now bring before you, the following: NEW PRAYER REQUESTS ** URGENT: Pray for Nathan B., age 1, who has been vomiting for two weeks. Tests ordered by his pediatrician and a pediatric surgeon thus far have been inconclusive. He is scheduled for an ultrasound on Monday, January 31. Pray that the Lord will give the doctors the skill to diagnose the problem and be able to treat it. Also, pray for his parents and brother Caleb at this stressful time. ** Pray for Susan T.'s mother, age 79, who fell and broke her arm in August 2010, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease soon afterward, and recently fell and broke her hip. Because of her frail condition, surgery is not possible. She is now home under Hospice care. Please pray for her comfort, for peace as her life on this earth draws to a close, and for Susan and her husband who are both facing their own health issues. Also, pray for Susan's father, who is legally blind, as he prepares for life without his wife of 54 years. ** Pray for Richard C., who has had two surgeries for brain cancer in the past year, as well as bladder cancer. A recent brain scan showed "bumps" at the sight where a large portion of the left parietal lobe was removed. Pray that he will remain turmo-free, and the the bumps are a healthy byproduct of the brain's attempt to heal from the surgery. ** Pray for the following GMBA requests and upcoming events: REQUESTS: for Raymond Dewan as he works with a group of refugees from Nepal to start a church in Winnoski; for Lyandon Warren as he seeks to start a new church in Poultney; for Brian Conyers as he seeks to start a new church in Waterbury; for Kevin Pounds as he seeks to start a new church in Burlington; for Peter and Pauline Grimes as they work in the Willow Creak Housing Complex to start a church; for Faith Community Church in Barre as it seeks two interns for their church planting efforts; for Washington Baptist Church as they seek a new pastor; EVENTS: Vacation Bible School Training at the Newbury Bible Church, Newbury, VT, March 26, 2011; GMBA Semi-Annual Meeting, New Covenant Baptist Church, South Burlington, Vermont, May 21, 2011. ** Pray for the ministry of Compassion International, for all the children and families they help, and for their staff and sponsors. Pray especially for the following specific requests for January: (1) for Pintu, Pramod and Sajita in eastern India, who are all suffering from epilepsy and need God's touch; (2) our brothers and sisters in Haiti, who have asked us to pray specifically for the children and families who lost homes and belongings to Hurricane Tomas, the healing of those ill with cholera, and the protection of the population still exposed to the cholera epidemic; (3) Jairo Johan, 9, and his siblings, in Peru, who recently lost their mother. Pray for their peace, comfort and provision; (4) for five Compassion-assisted families in Addis Ababa-Woreda, Ethiopia, who lost clothing, home goods, cash and food in a community fire; (5) for the leadership of Compassion Ghana as they enter into new regions and seek out church partners; (6) for Guatemala Leadership Development Program graduate Aury Sandoval´s family as a landslide destroyed the house where her mom and siblings lived. Pray that the violence would stop; (10) for the people of Haiti, who suffered through a devastating earthquake a year ago today. Pray for faster rebuilding and for restoration of their hope and belief in a better future, and for Compassion's work to help families start income-generating projects; (11) for God's protection over the 11 Compassion-assisted families and four pregnant mothers in areas affected by flooding in Sri Lanka; (12) for God's protection for our staff, children and families in dangerous areas of Honduras. The lack of security and the presence of gangs put them all at risk; (13) for Bangladeshi girls Malsawmper, 4, who has blood cancer, and Sithi, 9, whose father has a brain tumor. Pray for healing and comfort; (14) for Compassion families affected by flooding in Uganda. Flooded crops and gardens are rotting, reducing major sources of income and food; (15) for the mother of 16-year-old Andrea, in Peru. Her mother has breast cancer and needs healing; (16) for the people of Indonesia who have experienced several natural disasters recently, including flooding in West Papua; a tsunami in the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra; and an earthquake and volcano eruption in Central Java; (17) that the children at Kaagapay Child Development Center in the Philippines can continue to participate in program activities. A local clergyman from another denomination is discouraging them from attending; (18) for families in Thailand affected by the flooding. Please also pray for the health of the children as standing water in the community could spread disease; (19) for Bricet, 11, in Peru, who sustained brain damage after she was hit by a car, and is upset that she can't do the same things academically as her peers. Pray for God to strengthen them in the face of unbelieving family members and friends. ** Pray for those who are contemplating suicide and are overwhelmed with the struggles of life. Give them the strength and wisdom to seek help locally, and help them to know that God loves them and can change their lives. ** Pray for those who do not yet have a personal relationship with the Lord, that their minds and hearts would be open to receive Him, and that God would put believers in their path who will minister to them with compassion and love. ** Pray for those who have been physically and/or sexually abused.
